Borderlands 3 SHiFT Servers Down, Patch Incoming

Coronavirus fears have kept gamers indoors this week, resulting in heavy strain and crashed SHiFT servers for Borderlands 3.
Coronavirus fears have kept gamers indoors this week, resulting in heavy strain and crashed SHiFT servers for Borderlands 3.

Fast paced multiplayer titles like the third Borderlands are seeing a big bump in online matchmaking as gamers stay home in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent Steam release doesn’t help it much, either.

Unfortunately, that increased usage and heavy player load means server problems are starting to crop up and many players are experiencing issues with SHiFT server connectivity.

Check out the latest update straight from the development team below. A new patch to help connectivity problems is expected to arrive later today. For now, your best bet is to stay on top of the SHiFT Status Twitter account for an official update on when the servers will again be live. 

If the servers are back online and you are still having a problem, your best bet is to submit a ticket to Gearbox here.

Note that due to the increased strain on servers in recent weeks, you may be experiencing a problem with your specific platform rather than Borderlands 3 itself. Before firing off an angry Tweet, be sure to check out the DownDetector status for these services:
