Ubisoft Working on 5 Cross-Gen Games for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett

Ubisoft confirms three already-announced titles for next-gen platforms and teases two more we don't even know about yet.

Ubisoft recently held its quarterly earnings call. On top of financial reports came the usual follow-up questions from stakeholders, one of which centered around Ubisoft’s delayed games, Gods & Monsters, Watch Dogs Legion, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Quarantine.

According to Game Informer, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said these three titles are currently planned as cross-generational titles, meaning they’ll be developed not just for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but also for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett.

Guillemot also mentioned there are two unannounced, cross-gen titles in the works and said players will notice distinct improvements in gameplay on next-gen consoles:

The five titles, yes, they will be on this generation and the next generation, and they will take full advantage all the new features that are coming with the machines, which are actually going to be extremely interesting for players

You will be able to download new content a lot faster, players will experience better framerates there are lots of very good elements that will come with these new machines.

The titles mentioned are in keeping with Sony’s stated intent for the PlayStation 5 and its audience. This isn’t entirely unexpected, given the many times Sony has already said cross-gen play is important for its upcoming console.

Since Beyond Good and Evil 2 is, obviously, an announced title, we can reasonably conclude it’s still planned for a current-gen only release — whenever that might be. Though cross-gen isn’t out of the question, it’s simply a matter of how far along the project is.

Fill some of that time waiting time by checking out what we know about the PlayStation 5 so far, including its anticipated release date, and the scanty nuggets known about Xbox Scarlett.
