CCP Pledges to Honour New Eden Open Prizes Despite Own3d Downfall

News of the missing New Eden Open prizes surface from CCP Games after the demise of streaming providers Own3d

Following the foreclosure of video-streaming providers Own3d.tv, concerns were raised regarding the outstanding payment of the $10,000 prize money owed to competitors of the EVE Online New Eden Open tournament, which took place last November and December.

The competitors – who have not yet received the prize money – took to the EVE Online forums once news of Own3D.tv’s collapse broke. CCP’s initial response was quick, but lacked any solid details.

However, Community Representative CCP Dolan has now posted a definitive explanation of CCP’s position, declaring that they intend to “ensure that the unfortunate closing of Own3d does not affect the prizes that the winners worked so hard to earn”.

Winners have been told to expect an email regarding information on their cash prizes in the next 10-14 working days.

The announcement was appended with an apology for a delay in CCP’s provision of in-game item prizes also, citing EVE Online’s development demands as the cause.
