Rockstar's monumental hit Grand Theft Auto has set records for sales, innovation, and development since the series' overhaul in 2001. Grand Theft Auto 3 set the world on fire with its expansive open world, unparalleled freedom, and strong adult content. And gamers have been clamoring for more ever since.
Rockstar's latest entry in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, is currently the fourth best-selling game of all time with more than 75 million copies sold.
Imitation is said to be the highest form of flattery, and plenty of indie developers are smitten with the series. As such, they've taken to making their own games as similar to it as they can in hopes of reaching success, too.
And luckily for both them and players, some of them are pretty good.
