Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition Leaps Over to PC Soon

It's a big move for PlayStation, but don't expect it to signal a change in how Sony releases PlayStation games.

Guerilla Studios’ futuristic open-world title Horizon: Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer. The news comes via a PlayStation Blog interview with PlayStation Worldwide Studios President Hermen Hulst, who also happens to be the former head of Guerilla Studios.

Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition‘s Steam page is already live as well, though there’s no indication of when it might release this summer. The Complete Edition includes the base game plus the Frozen Wilds DLC add-on.

Hulst told the PlayStation Blog this doesn’t mean PC fans can expect a flood of PlayStation titles being ported to the PC, though.

He said:

…releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance.

We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.

In addition to HZD being a natural fit for PC, Hulst provided another reason why Sony’s Worldwide Studios might consider porting other titles to the PC: it pulls people back to Sony’s dedicated consoles:

I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on.

We called Horizon: Zero Dawn one of the best sandbox and open-world games of the generation and said in our Horizon: Zero Dawn review that it “forays into a previously untapped corner of the RPG genre  and delivers a pretty incredible experience.”

This isn’t the only instance of Sony considering other methods of attracting new followers to its PlayStation brand. A few months back, Sony released a survey asking fans whether they might want to see Sony titles on handhelds or even other platforms like Nintendo Switch.

That’s not to mention that Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding will be making its way to PC this year, too.
