Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 looks a little off

Activision's new gameplay trailer for Tony Hawk 5 leaves fans worried.

Recently, Activision released a new gameplay trailer for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5. This new game in the long-running skateboard series is going to launch on September 29 of this year at the usual retail price of $59.99 for PS4 and Xbox One. While the game's combo-heavy skating actions looks as though they could be fun, the rest of the game looks like it could use a spit-shine.

The gameplay trailer shows off a few different locations, all of which look bland and empty. While the stages are my main concern, the character models were also lacking. They weren't terrible, but could stand to be upgraded a bit.

While the game does give off the same vibe as the 1999 original, it looks like it's going to need a serious upgrade in a short amount of time to be worth full-retail value. While I doubt the game will "bad", the quality just isn't up to snuff. At this stage, I seriously doubt I am going to be picking up this one at launch.

Just that cool nerdy guy, who writes on the side.

While I think it might be a fun game. It is not worth 60$. Ill wait to pick it up for like 9.90$ during some digital sale

My first impression was that the character animation was clunky. It seemed like they didn't do that great job of tying animations together. It was like you could see the character snap to a new position with little natural looking body movement.

Is there no PC version either? That sucks.

On the topic of displayed content, however, I must agree that I found it wanting. I'm currently thinking of THPS2 on my Dreamcast and I already notice that most of the stages seem rather... flat? There's not much variety in the layouts as they all seem to be made using the custom park tool they have (of which seems to only use a flat garage) and then gave it a custom background/skybox. I think I'll skip this one.
