Muramasa Rebirth for the Vita Coming to North America

Aksys announced yesterday that they will be publishing Muramasa Rebirth and its DLC in North America.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade was released on the Wii almost four years ago, and fans of Vanillaware’s PS2 titles either had to cough up the cash for a Wii or deal with it. If you’re one of those old fans that feel spurned or simply an action platformer fan with a lonely Vita, you’re in luck: Aksys is bringing Muramasa Rebirth stateside with love.

Rebirth Changes

Along with the publishing, Aksys will be handling a brand new translation — a welcome piece of news for those who played the original and snored through Ignition’s localization. Fans will also be pleased to find out that there will now be a dedicated jump button as opposed to pressing “up” as in the Wii version of the game.

The upcoming Japanese DLC, Genroku Kaikitan, will also be localized and available for purchase soon after the game’s release. This meaty DLC adds four additional characters to the game, each with a new scenario to play through.

Aksys has yet to announce a release date for Muramasa Rebirth, but it may be around March as the Genroku Kaikitan DLC is being released in Japan on March 13. We’ll just have to wait and see!
