Why No English Release – Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online

Ghosts 'n Goblins Online features the original games' sidescrolling action, and throws in job classes to boot. Give the English-speaking market this game!

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online is getting ready to enter its open beta in South Korea, which doesn’t affect us in the least. But it should! GnGO features a more manageable variation of the original games‘ sidescrolling action, and throws in job classes to boot. Give the English-speaking market this game!

It’s been a long time since we’ve gotten a quality online sidescroller — and I do mean a long time. Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online has been going through beta stages in South Korea since late 2011, after its announcement all the way back in 2010.

With the game’s Korean open beta launching this month and last year’s announcement that Shanda Games would be publishing the game in China, I can’t help but wonder why there is nothing pointing to a Western release for this MMO reboot of a classic franchise.

If we have any sort of chance to see GnGO, the announcement will likely be made sometime this year. A new class is being introduced in the open beta (fist-user?), and it going into open beta and seeing a Chinese release may be enough to catch the attention of a Western publisher.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online has enough in the gameplay, quality, and flavor departments to warrant an overseas release. Check out the gameplay videos below and see what I mean.
