Tecmo Koei and Nintendo’s collaboration on Hyrule Warriors is expected to help bring some much-needed life back to the Wii U. In this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine, we get some very nice looking screen shots and a look into the story which will combine Dynasty Warriors gameplay motifs and the world of The Legend of Zelda.
Zelda Really Needs A Curfew
No surprise that the main story of the game is to rescue the princess of Hyrule from evil forces that are plaguing the lands. That being said, the story never gets old and when combined with new gameplay, it’s like seeing it for the first time all over again. The big difference in this game is from whom the princess needs rescuing. It’s not a thief named Gannondorf. Instead we see Link stuck in a love story.
Shia is a good person, but has fallen in love with Link. Shia becomes jealous of Zelda and her relationship with Link. Shia falls victim to an evil thought and her mind becomes compromised. Shia was entrusted with maintaining the balance of power in the triforce and now she stands opposite Link, with Valga and Wiz at her side.
Link is a solider in training in the Hyrulian army. Impa gives him the special privilege of wearing green armor and his task is to get past Shia and her minions in order to rescue Zelda.
Gameplay Concepts
While note much is mentioned specifically about the gameplay mechanics, we do know that Z-Targeting is going to be included in the game.
Z-Targeting was made famous in The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time, and has become a main staple of the Zelda series. It’s speculated that most of the game play will resemble Dynasty Warriors in that players will take on multiple enemies at once. 
Hyrule Warriors is due out for Wii U on August 14th in Japan and is planned to release sometime in 2014 for North America and Europe.
