Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX got a new trailer for E3 coming up next week. The trailer shows off what the game will feature, including Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep: Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded HD cutscenes.
A release date of December 2nd, 2014 has been confirmed. The game will also be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 3.
The Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX trailer is cool, no doubt about that. But the real excitement is the last 30 seconds. A tease for Kingdom Heart 3!
The scene is just two voices (in japanese) talking about, you know, Kingdom Hearts stuff. Light, darkness, keyblades, whatever. Here’s a transcription.
“Have you heard of the ancient Keyblade War? Many years ago, Keyblade Weilders started a war over the ownership of light.”
“Yep, the Master loves telling that story.”
“Then I take it you also know of the ‘lost masters‘?”
“Nope, where’d you hear about that?”
“On that land shall darkness prevail and light expire. But you knew that, didn’t you?”
Obviously it’s hard to piece together what that really means. We already know about the Keyblade War from Birth By Sleep and Dream Drop Distance.
What we don’t know is who this specific master is. So far, the only masters we know of are Aqua, Yen Sid, Riku, Mickey, Xenonort, and the deceased Eraqus. So whoever the story is referring to, it could be someone new. Aqua is technically lost in the dark margin, so she could be referred to as lost, but the story references multiple lost masters… so that’s no help.
We also don’t exactly know what the land where darkness prevails and light expires.
So yeah. It’s confusing! Who knows what it means. Apparently more news on Kingdom Hearts 3 won’t be revealed at E3, but at a later date. Of course. So expect an even longer delay of details.
