What’s Coming With Flame and Frost: The Razing

Flame and Frost: The Razing is going to have a pair of heroes to assist, spy posts to destroy, new WvW progression rewards, and leaderboards.

The upcoming patch for Guild Wars 2 is finally getting close, and now we have the details on what we’ll be getting with it.

For those following the living story, we finally have those characters we were promised would fight and explore the building tale alongside us.  Braham is a young Norn looking for heroes to help him defend his homestead while Rox is a Charr ranger lacking a warband sent on an important mission by Rytlock himself to prove she’s more than just another gladium.

The combined Dredge and Flame Legion forces, now revealed to be called the Molten Alliance, are setting up spy posts across the Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills to try and keep tabs on everything in the new warzone.  Players will have the chance to take these outposts down to slow their progress and buy time for a more concerted response.

On the mechanical side of things, Guild Wars 2’s World vs World PvP mode is getting several new additions.  The removal of culling and improvements to the system’s performance will both be going live with the patch.  In addition there will be new ranks and experience for the PvP mode, including the ability to use those ranks to purchase upgrades unique to WvW.

Leaderboards are also being implemented to let people see where they stack up in WvW rankings, structured PvP rankings, and overall achievements.  The most recent State of the Game streamchat discussed this in detail, noting that players will be able to compare their ranking with their friends, their guild, or the overall server they are on to give people something to inspire themselves in their acts.

Guild missions are also getting new content.  Arenanet is implementing three new bounty hunt targets for guilds to track down.  For those who still have not gotten into the guild missions yet, there will also be bounty hunt training missions for smaller guilds or guilds looking to ease their way into the missions.

All in all it looks to be a good update.  Let’s see how the Guild Wars 2 Living Story progresses on.
