Lovecraft Fans Get Two New Games From Fulqrum Publishing

Get excited for two new first-person Lovecraft-esque horror games!

Perfectly timed for Steam’s Lovecraftian days, Fulqrum Publishing announces two new games on the horizon, Decadent and Stygian: Outer Gods. If you’re a fan of Lovecraft-themed games, you won’t want to miss out on these twisted horror experiences. Here are all the details.

Stygian: Outer Gods is one game players might recognize since it takes place in the same universe as Fulqrum Publishing’s past game, Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones. The game is a prequel, taking place in the hours before. Not only will you experience the events leading up to the ‘dark days,’ but your choices in-game will also influence the events.

Stygian: Outer Gods looks very different from the past game, with stunning graphics and a first-person view. This time, you’ll be fully immersed in the world inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. Unlike the past turn-based combat, this hones in on survival with fast-paced action. It requires you to fend off monsters and use items. However, what stuck out to me the most was the choice-based story. This allows players to shape the game’s outcome and perfectly paves the way into the following game.

Decadent has a similar feel with its first-person POV and survival-based combat, but it throws players into an unfamiliar setting. You’ll have to wander through the Barren, a dangerous environment of forests and mountains filled with unspeakable evils.

In Decadent, you’ll play as a veteran and explorer, John Lorn, as he searches the Barren to find his missing son. However, this is different from the usual search and rescue mission. This experience piles on the horror aspects, focusing on terrifying and realistic environments and the most nightmare-material creatures. Of course, they won’t leave us entirely defenseless, granting us weapons to survive our wretched journey.

You’ll be happy to know that both games are available on various platforms. You can pre-order and play the games on PC, PS5, and Xbox! Unfortunately, you’ll be going on this journey alone because they are only single-player games, which only makes them that much more scary.

Both games release in 2025, but are yet to get exact release dates. We’ll get more information as the release frame comes closer. For now, head to Steam to wishlist Decadent and Stygian: Outer Gods and prepare for more information about the upcoming games!
