BioShock Infinite: The 1st and 30

The rundown of the first 30 minutes of game play with the newly released, BioShock: Infinite.

I know I’ve been wondering, like everyone else out there in video game land, if the new BioShock Infinite game will live up to all the hype, plus the awesome T.V. commercial with that catchy song (titled “Beast” by Nico Vega, by the way, thanks Shazam).   Well here’s your friendly neighborhood video game inquisitor, (that’s me), to give you the first 30 minutes game play rundown.

Stepping it up Again

Graphically, the game is the most awe inspiring eye candy I have seen in a while.  Kudos to the team over at Irrational Games for crafting such a visually vibrantly colored masterpiece that puts the last two BioShock titles to shame and they were amazing in their own respect.

The Story

Set in a shining floating city of Colombia above the clouds, you play the main protagonist, Booker DeWitt, a man who is charged with finding and bring back a mysterious girl named Elizabeth with strange powers.

After running around grabbing everything that was left lying around for my character in the very lively city, like I do in every FPS, I moved further into the game to test out what everyone really wants to know about, the combat.

Game Play

The gunfights are fast and dangerous and it is very easy to get carried away just blasting your foes dead, but where’s the fun in that?  There is a very awesome balance between guns and vigors, the game’s version of magic or the plasmids found in the original Bioshock.  Using the both of them simultaneously is so satisfying that I almost can not put it into words.

An example of what I mean happens when I ran into trouble with a turret that was pinning me down while the bad guys that out-numbered me moved in for the kill.  I blasted it with the vigor possession and use it to clear a path through my enemies without me using up all my ammo.

All in All

The game is mind blowing and definitely too hard to put down after the first 30 minutes (to be honest, I started playing about 10 hours ago and only stopped for a bathroom break and this review, but I probably shared too much).

Look for a more extended review once I wrap up the first play through!
