Silent Hills Officially Cancelled by Konami

Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro's much anticipated Silent Hills has been cancelled.

Konami has announced that Silent Hills has been officially cancelled.

A statement from Guillermo Del Toro yesterday heavily suggested that the game had been canned but now it has been confirmed. In a statement to Kotaku, Konami said:

“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.”

Silent Hills was announced at last years E3, through the playable teaser released on PS4, P.T.. The mysterious teaser became known immediately for being pretty terrifying, beautiful and a very unique experience. Konami announced a few days ago that P.T. would be pulled from the PlayStation Store, which caused much concern about the future of the game.

Speculation about the game has been rife since Konami and Hideo Kojima parted ways and those concerns have been proven justified. Silent Hills was being co-created by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro, and would feature Walking Dead star, Norman Reedus.

Reedus aptly summed up the situation in a tweet:
