In a behind the scenes look at Rise of the Tomb Raider, artists and animators discussed the techniques used in making Lara as realistic as possible.

Brenoch Adams, Art Director said it’s all in the details. Giving Lara pores on her skin, eyes lashes, and the buildup of snow on her clothes makes her all the more tangible.

They want to include her imperfections as well, having carried over the scars she received in the first game.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is very much about the personal growth of Lara. In the 2013 reboot, Lara was a survivor and from the hardships she faced in the first installment, she has learned from those experiences and has become the powerful character you see in Rise of the Tomb Raider. For Lara’s design it is very important to the developers that they visually depict the progression and character growth of her character.

Rise of the Tomb Raider launches for Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10th (the same release date as Fallout 4).

What do you think of Lara’s character changes? Do you think Rise of the Tomb Raider is headed in the right direction?
