As part of an assignment, it was asked that our team run a review about Pocket Army by Pine Entertainment. I volunteered, as it would give me a chance to play another game that I haven’t played before.
The first big thing I noticed was that Pocket Army is free to play, however there is a cash shop like every other free to play game out there. No big deal, I’ve seen this before, so I start playing, and accumulate approx 20k gold in just the first few missions. What I began to realize is with a bit of luck (or a bit of grinding if your luck happens to be a bottomless pit of doom) you don’t need the cash shop at all.
As far as actual game play, there isn’t much story. You start by picking a nation, Red or Blue (I picked Red) then you pick male or female, that’s about all the customization you get. Once you’re done making selections the game runs you through some basic tutorials and teaches you how to build your army. Controls are really cut and dry for easy game play. The one complaint I have with Pocket Army is, if you boost up your army too fast and not your character, the missions start to get a bit hard but a bit of grinding can solve that).
I don’t have any friends who play the game so I couldn’t test out the multiplayer, but from what I’ve read it sounds pretty cool. You can go head to head against your friends or recruit them as part of your army.
Pocket Army is one of those games that you can pick up and put down to pass the time whenever your day stalls out. Just make sure you keep your device charged so your battery doesn’t die on you! I recommend giving this game a shot. If you don’t like it there is no loss to you, but if you do like it I’m sure you’ll have fun!
