Although the trailer for the mobile game was released late in June, the official release occurred earlier this week. The game has fully animated 3D ships, bosses and combat effects in a flashy, neon sci-fi landscape.

Developed by Caliburnus Limited, the extended arcade gameplay offers a one-button auto-fire input that brings bullet-hell action straight to the audience. The game also offers an accelerometer-based control scheme when navigating the ship through the difficult levels.

The expansive story mode will test even the most skilled of players. While traversing across the galaxy and back again, they will face what might be some of the most challenging and visually compelling boss battles in mobile gaming history. Along the way, players unlock powerful upgrades, which allow them to customize their ship’s stats and gameplay style.

Exclusive features included in the game are three unlockable ships with 11 upgrades, nine story missions, and nine highly armed bosses. In the game players will also have the ability to customize their defense, power and speed.

Space Warriors: The Origin is available free in the App Store.
