The official Gwent website describes the story of Thronebreaker as a new side of the Witcher universe, claiming:

Thronebreaker spins a truly regal tale of Meve — a war veteran queen of two Northern Realms. Facing an imminent foreign invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge. Cast with rich, multi-dimensional characters and choice-driven [design], your decisions will shape the lives of Meve and her kingdom.

The story of Thronebreaker takes place in locations within the Witcher universe, many of which players have not seen before. players will navigate the expansion with an all new map system made especially for Gwent, which will lead them through side quests and story battles, both of which are supposed to shake up the game’s rules.

Players will also be expected to use their personal customizable battle camp in order to recruit and develop units, manage resources, and build a massive army to fight for Meve’s kingdom.

Gwent: Thronebreaker is planned for release sometime later this year. Gwent, as it stands, is currently in open beta and available to play for free now.

I'm just your average basement-dwelling eclectic and eccentric video gamer who does his best to make a point, share experiences, and talk to people without swallowing his own tongue. I'm mostly into Platformers and RPG's, but I'll try pretty much anything once, and I'm also trying to find something different and interesting to play, and then share with as many people as I can. I can also beat the entire first world in Super Meat Boy while wearing oven mitts.
