Sega Survey Results: Sakura Wars Wins by a Landslide

Could Sega be planning to make a game that doesn't star a blue hedgehog?

Several months ago, Sega started an online survey in which they asked their fans which of their classic franchises they’d like to see a revival of, along with several other surveys.

While beloved series such as Shenmue and Jet Set Radio received plenty of votes, it was Sakura Wars that claimed victory. In addition, on a separate survey, which asked which of their brands gamers were most invested in, Sakura Wars once again came out on top. Yes, this hybrid RPG/Dating Simulator garnered more support than Sonic the Hedgehog.

Amusingly, the third poll, which asked fans who their favorite Sega character was, ended with Segata Sanshiro having received the most votes. Segata, who, in addition to being the mascot for the Sega Saturn, also dated Sakura from Sakura Wars, within his own continuity.

Sega had to have a reason for starting this poll, and if that reason involves bringing back an old franchise, it’s clear that the love is still there for Sakura Wars.
