Because they’ve gotten the rights from Kodansha to develop a game based on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
There are no details on what exactly the game is to be, aside from the fact that it will be online. Considering the developer will be Nexon, it’s likely to be an MMORPG.
The press release states that the game will be based around Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, GitS: SAC 2nd GIG, and GitS: Solid State Society. This is pretty exciting news as this will be the first game based on the series since the original Playstation game, which was based on the first movie.
We won’t be seeing the game for quite some time since Nexon just got the rights a few days ago, but it will certainly be interesting to see how they handle making Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex into an MMORPG — and whether or not it will be good enough to warrant playing.
