Exciting New Features Shown for Pokemon: Lets Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!

Nintendo released a new trailer for Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee! today, showing off tons of new information, along with pre-order options.

Earlier this morning, Nintendo released a trailer featuring new details about the much-anticipated Pokemon games headed for the Switch: Lets Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!. If you haven’t already, check out the trailer above for yourself.

In the trailer, both Pikachu and Eevee have access to new sets of moves called Secret Techniques. These techniques are designed to make it easier for the trainer to traverse the game.

One of the techniques, called Chop Down, clears a path when trees are in front of the trainer, granting them access to new routes. There’s also Sea Skim for when a trainer wants to travel across water. Or if they want to return to a town they’ve already visited, they can use Sky Dash.

These Secret Techniques essentially fill the role of Hidden Machines, from the handheld games.

As exclusive Pokemon partners, Pikachu and Eevee also have access to attacks they can use in battle called Partner-Exclusive Moves. These moves show up when the Pokemon partner sends a signal to their trainer, informing them they’re ready for use.

Pikachu and Eevee can send this signal, even if they’re not in combat. Trainers gain access to these moves by increasing their bond with their Pokemon partner, which is done by petting and playing with them outside of combat.

When the Partner-Exclusive move is ready, the trainer can choose what move to use. Pikechu has access to Pika Papow and Splishy Splash. Pika Papow’s power is determined by the strength of the trainer’s bond with Pikachua, and Splishy Splash is a Water-type attack that can potentially stun the enemy Pokmon. This move also makes Pikachu great to use against rock-type Pokemon.

Eevee has several exclusive moves, such as Veevee Volley, Bouncy Bubble, Buzzy Buzz, and Sizzly Slide. Much like Pika Papow, Veevee Volley’s power is determined by the trainer’s bond to Eevee. Bouncy Bubble is a Water-type move that heals Eevee for half of whatever damage dealt to the opponent. The Electric-type move Buzzy Buzz paralyzes the target, and Sizzly Slide is a Fire-type move that leaves the foe with a burned status.

The trailer also shows off Celadon City, one of the famous cities found in the Kanto Region. Players can explore the city and visit the town’s arcade to play games or purchase items at the department store. A trainer can also face off against the Grass-type Pokemon gym leader, Erika, to earn the gym leader’s badge.

When Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! release later this year on November 16, Nintendo will also release a special Nintendo Switch system bundle that includes a Pikachu- and Evee-themed Joy-Con controllers, a digital copy of either game, and a Poke Ball Plus.

You can visit the Pokemon: Let’s Go website for more information and pre-order either version of the game. For more on Lets Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, keep it tuned to GameSkinny.
