Former BioShock Devs Release The Blackout Club on Steam Early Access

Explore a small Appalachian town with your friends and solve a strange occult mystery in the co-op paranormal mystery The Blackout Club.

Just in time for Halloween, a new paranormal horror mystery has joined the ranks of Steam’s Early Access. The Blackout Club is a cooperative game created at Question by a team of games industry vets, including BioShock alumni Stephen Alexander and Jordan Thomas.

The Blackout Club is the story of a group of teens investigating unusual activity in their small Appalachian town — a town without the modern conveniences of cell phones and internet access.

The teens come together after the town is plagued with blackouts and a friend disappears. When confronted with the fact the adults of the community ignore their concerns, the group work together to uncover occult activity that is turning the town into sleepwalkers.

In order to successfully complete The Blackout Club, players will need to work together, collecting evidence and keeping a step ahead of the sleepwalkers. Together, they can make use of a variety of tools including fireworks and stun-guns to get things done. But, players will need to be careful when using these items, because there’s always a chance they are being watched.

The game is available on Steam Early Access starting today, at a cost of $20. (For a limited time there’s a 10% discount, dropping the price to $18.)

It’s important to note that the team at Question is very clear about this Early Access not being a completely finished game. In fact, they encourage players who are looking for a clean experience to wait until the game officially launches to make their purchase.  On the other hand, if you’re cool with bugs and changes, go for it.

You can watch the trailer for the game below. Just keep in mind that an age gate has been set for it, so you may need to log into your YouTube account in order to view it.
