Pokemon GO‘s spring 2020 event is coming soon, and it’s all about finding cute Pokemon, Pokemon wearing cute hats, and hatching cute Pokemon. The latest event in Niantic’s monstrously successful mobile Pokemon game kicks off April 9 at 8:00 a.m. local time and runs through April 16 at 10:00 p.m. local time.
During the event, you’re more likely to find Exeggcute, Chansey, Mareep, Marill, and Torchic in the wild, and Exeggcute has a higher chance of being Shiny. If you happen across Pikachu or Buneary in the wild, they’ll be wearing “festive spring headwear,” too.
The event is bringing some new Field Research Tasks as well. Completing them gives you a chance at encountering Alolan Exeggutor, Azumarill, and possibly the elusive Audino.
Eggs received from opening Gifts during the event will be 2km Eggs, and all 2km Eggs have a higher chance at producing:
- Pichu
- Togepi
- Tyrogue
- Chingling
- Happiny
- Munchlax
- Riolu
Pichu and Togepi that hatch will pop out wearing flower crowns. It’s probably best we don’t know how that works in terms of Pokemon biology, though.
Finally, you’ll get double Hatch Candy, and Lucky Eggs last for an hour during the event.
Fortunately, Niantic’s made it easier to find Pokemon in Pokemon GO while staying at home, so you can fully enjoy the event without putting yourself — and others — at risk. You’ll even be able to do Pokemon GO Raids from home.
