Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Will Have an F2P Version

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Lite edition gives you a generous taste of the game and its multiplayer for free.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is out August 27 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and mobile devices. But if you’re still not sure about FFCC Remastered, there’s a big demo releasing on launch day called FFCC Remastered Lite that lets you experience a sizeable chunk of gameplay.

FFCC Remastered Lite is a free demo download consisting of three full dungeons. You’ll even have access to online multiplayer and FFCC Remastered‘s cross-play capabilities, so you can join up with friends. If one of your caravan members (read: multiplayer party members) has the full, paid edition of the game, you get access to even more content with the Lite edition — a full 13 dungeons.

Whatever progress you make carries over to the main game, should you decide to purchase it.

All this comes in a new FFCC Remastered trailer outlining how the game works. There’s an overview of each race to start with:

  • Clavats — all-’rounders
  • Lilties — slow, but strong
  • Selkies — fast
  • Yukes — good with magic

We go into much more detail in our guide to the game’s classes too. Either way, the ideal caravan mixes and matches characters to cover each other’s weaknesses.

Part of that involves fusing items to make more powerful magic and then combining spells with your party members to dish out even more damage.

If all this is way too familiar for you, FFCC Remastered is adding some all-new, high-difficulty dungeons after the main story ends. And there’s some all-new gear and weapons to help you tackle these challenges.
