Animal Crossing New Horizons Summer Update Adds Fireworks, Backup Saves

Animal Crossing New Horizons summer update part two brings back fireworks and gives your island some insurance.

The Animal Crossing New Horizons summer update just keeps on giving. We knew a New Horizons summer update 2 was coming, and Nintendo recently revealed what it includes and when it launches.

The Animal Crossing New Horizons summer update for August introduces a weekly fireworks show, the dream suite, and more importantly, backup save support.

The Animal Crossing New Horizons summer update part two will be available for free starting July 30. The annual August fireworks show makes a comeback every Sunday during August and brings back Redd’s raffle stand from the original Animal Crossing. You can watch regular fireworks, sure — or you can make your own using your custom designs.

The other big and long-awaited addition is New Horizons backup saves. The option to save your New Horizons island to the cloud was a notable absence when the game first launched, but it’s being rectified with the summer update.

As always with Nintendo’s cloud saves, you’ll need to be an active Nintendo Switch Online subscriber top take advantage of them. Later in the year, Nintendo is also adding the option to transfer your island to another Switch console.

Finally for the New Horizons summer update is the Dream Suite’s return. First introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the Dream Suite lets players visit other towns, now islands, without any fear of permanent repercussions. For example, someone could visit your island to see how amazing it looks, and whatever they do while there won’t actually happen since it’s a dream.

It’s not too different from inviting people over without giving them friends’ privileges, though, so we don’t quite know what the New Horizons Dream Suite will offer that’s different if anything.

On top of all that, there’s another New Horizons update planned for the fall. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more Animal Crossing: New Horizons news as it develops.
