Microsoft Announces Xbox Series X Release Date, Price

Microsoft announced the Xbox Series X release date and price and gave a brief overview of the XSX launch lineup.

Following the surprise Xbox Series S announcement, Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Series X release date and price. The Xbox Series X releases November 10, the same day as the Series S, and it will cost $499. Pre-orders open on September 22 for both systems.

Microsoft also announced a bit of the Xbox Series X launch lineup. The current XSX launch lineup includes:

  • Gears Tactics
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Yakuza 7
  • Dirt 5
  • Watch Dogs Legion

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla saw its release date moved up from November 17 for Xbox, possibly to make up for no Halo Infinite at launch, and will release on PlayStation 5 whenever Sony’s next-gen system releases, which we suspect will be around the same time.

Watch Dogs Legion releases for current-gen platforms on October 29, with free upgrades offered for next-gen versions.

Microsoft also announced EA Play is coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass for no additional cost.

The Xbox Series X is billed as the most powerful next-gen console. Here’s the console’s spec list as a refresher.

CPU 8x Cores @ 3.8 GHz (3.6 GHz w/ SMT) Custom Zen 2 CPU
GPU 12 TFLOPS, 52 CUs @ 1.825 GHz Custom RDNA 2 GPU

While the Xbox Series S doesn’t have a disc drive and is technically the less powerful of the two systems, Microsoft said the primary difference between the two is 4K support. Otherwise, the XSS can do everything else the XSX can do. Stay tuned to GameSkinny for more next-gen Xbox news as it develops.
