Nintendo made the announcement via a new trailer that debuted during The Game Awards 2020. The trailer offers an extended glimpse at two new monsters plus Rise‘s Japanese-folklore-inspired environments, including the home base village.

The first monster is Bishaten, a wyvern-ish monster with a passion for persimmons matched only by its love of hurling them back at hunters and smashing them with its tail.

Then there’s Somnacanth, an aquatic beast that puts its foes to sleep with a toxic powder.

That village is under threat from a mysterious affliction driving monsters wild. They’ll rampage and destroy the village, so you and your fellow villagers must band together to put a stop to the destruction once and for all.
