You’ll Be Able to Use Your Xbox One Controller on Your PC…Eventually!

Xbox One Controller to Have PC Compatibility in 2014.

You’ve read about all the updates Microsoft made in their new controller for the Xbox One, but did you know they are also looking into adding PC compatibility?

According to a Microsoft spokesperson interviewed by Kotaku:

“..there is some work that we need to do to make sure that existing PC games that support the Xbox 360 controller will work with the Xbox One controller. While it seems trivial, it’s actually quite a bit of dedicated work for all that to be seamless for the user. We know people want to use the Xbox One controller on their PC, and we do too – we expect to have the functionality available in 2014.”

Currently, if you have a wired Xbox 360 controller that you want to use with your console all it takes is a simple software installation. If you want to use your wireless controller however, you have to buy an Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver in order for it to be recognized by your computer.

Given how popular the 360 gamepad is with PC gamers it really seems like a no-brainer to make the Xbox One controller PC compatible. It would be nice to see support for Mac and Linux users too, but I just hope it won’t require a separate piece of hardware for those who wish to play wirelessly to do so.
