City of Heroes to Live on via The Phoenix Project?

Missing Worlds Media is looking to revitalize the now-defunct CoH community and give them somewhere to go with The Phoenix Project. Let's hope they succeed.

The end of City of Heroes was 2012’s saddest MMO-related event. The community reached out during the game’s last months and spilled their hearts on countless posts on forums around the internet. It wasn’t just the loss of the game, but also the loss of the sense of community the players had that made its closure so devastating. Fortunately, there may be hope.

Missing Worlds Media is looking to revitalize the now-defunct CoH community and give them somewhere to go with The Phoenix Project. In case the developer name didn’t give you a hint, Missing Worlds Media is comprised of talented people who had a passion for City of Heroes. Their goal is to create what the community wants — which, incidentally, is a new super hero MMORPG.

I’d never played City of Heroes, but many of the stories players posted on forums and in comments sections as the game was closing down really touched me. It’s always sad to see an MMO with a passionate community shunned by its publisher. The Phoenix Project does not interest me personally, but that gleam of hope that it gives previous CoH players is inspiring. I hope they meet their goals.
