Atooms to Moolecules: Worse than Chem Class

I definitely would not recommend this game to anyone, unless they absolutely love chemistry.

Atooms to Moolecules gave the impression of being a cute game based on chemistry. Wanting to give it a shot, I downloaded the free demo from Steam and started to play. I was severely disappointed.

Bright colors and adorable animation aside, I found no value in this game. In fact, it is the single most confusing game I’ve ever played. There’s almost no explanation or real instructions. All you get are pictures showing you what “moolecules” you should be trying to make by dragging and dropping the “atooms.” However, these diagrams don’t tell you all the rules and nuances of creating said bonds, leading to a lot of frustration on my part.

So, much of the game is just trial and error. I spent a lot of time making, breaking, and remaking bonds, trying to create the combination indicated. I suppose this is where my ineptitude in chemistry comes back to haunt me.

I eventually mostly got the hang of Atooms to Moolecules, but it’s definitely not a game that I would recommend to anyone. It’s neither fun nor interesting. Maybe people who really love chemistry would enjoy it, but I’m not one of them.

Also, what’s up with the odd spellings of “Atoms” and “Molecules”? When it’s spelled “Moolecules,” I expected to see cows or something. Sadly, there is a complete lack of bovines in this game. Maybe they would have made it a little bit more entertaining.
