After much speculation and years of rumors, the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake has been revealed. The game is currently in development at Konami.
The MGS3 remake was announced with a trailer during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, confirming the game will be coming to the PlayStation 5. Soon after the Showcase, the same trailer was released by Konami with a slightly altered end card that revealed the remake would also be coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S. Currently, there’s no release date for these revamped versions of Snake Eater.
Rumors of an MGS3 remake began about two years ago via a report by VGC. In the time leading up to the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, it seemed we couldn’t go a few weeks without someone bringing up the possibility of Konami reviving its classic stealth-action series, but now we don’t have to guess. Snake hasn’t left the building and is, in fact, bringing some of his classic adventures with him.
Alongside a full-on remake of Snake Eater will be a Metal Gear Solid Classics collection that contains the first three titles in the series. This includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. While that might seem redundant considering the remake, it’s always nice for preservation’s sake to have the original games available on modern consoles.
There isn’t much else we can say about the Snake Eater remake right now, but if the trailer is anything to go by, it will have an immense level of quality to its visuals.
