Spider-Man 2 PS5 Release Date Confirmed, Editions Revealed and Pre-Order Date Set

Here's when Spider-Man 2 will release, as well as when pre-orders will go live.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 finally has a release date. Developer Insomniac confirmed during Summer Game Fest that the next adventure for Peter Parker and Miles Morales will launch for the PS5 on October 20, 2023. In a PlayStation Blog post that followed the reveal, the developer confirmed the game’s various editions and when pre-orders would become available.

Pre-orders for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will begin on June 16 at 10 a.m. local time on the PlayStation Store and through PlayStation Direct. Pre-orders will also be available at various retailers, and while we don’t have a complete list, we can assume the usual suspects of GameSpot, Best Buy, Amazon, and more will have the game up for pre-purchase. Those who pick up any edition of Spider-Man 2 early from any retailer will receive several items:

  • The Aracknight Suit (Peter Parker)
  • Shadow Spider Suit (Miles Morales)
  • Web Grabber Gadget
  • Three different color variants
  • Three skill points

The Standard Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will retail for $69.99 and come with the game only (sans the pre-order bonuses noted above for those who pick it up early). It will be available both physically and digitally.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Spider-Man 2 will retail for $79.99 and include a plethora of goodies outside of the game. You’ll get:

  • 10 Spider Suits
    • Tactical Suit
    • Aurantia Suit
    • 25th Century Suit
    • Stone Monkey Suit
    • Apunkalyptic Suit
    • Agimat Suit
    • Red Spectre Suit
    • Encoded Suit
    • Biomechanical Suit
    • Tokusatsu Suit
  • The pre-order bonuses listed above (Peter and Miles suits, Web Grabber, and three Skill Points)
  • Extra Digital Deluxe content (more photo mode items and two additional Skill Points)

Lastly, there’s the Collector’s Edition, which will retail for a hefty $229.99. This edition is only available through PlayStation Direct for those in select countries:

  • United States
  • UK
  • Germany
  • France
  • Netherlands
  • Belgium
  • Luxembourg
  • Italy
  • Austria
  • Spain
  • Portugal

However, there are some pretty great things for the price tag if you’re a Spidey fan and can get your hands on one of these. Of course, you’ll get the game, the pre-order bonuses, and the Digital Deluxe content, but you’ll also get a few other items.

  • A Steelbook Case
  • 19-inch statue of Spidey and Venom

The last we saw of Spider-Man 2 was during the May PlayStation Showcase, where we got an extended Spidey 2 gameplay trailer and the (awesome) reveal of Kraven the Hunter. The more-than-12-minute video shows the game’s dual protagonists and how players will be able to switch between them at certain parts of the game. We also see Peter Parker with a symbiote, which will certainly play into the story. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks and months.
