Bandai Namco Entertainment has partnered with ILCA Inc. to bring Dragon Ball creator Akira Toryiama’s Sand Land manga to life on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. With a reveal trailer dropped during Summer Game Fest, we got to meet Beezlebub on the big screen. The iconic art of Toryiama will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but no release window was included in the announcement. Here’s what we know about Sand Land.
Sand Land was first released as a manga in 2000, while the co-op project to bring Toryiama’s work to transmedia was originally announced in December 2022. Following the adventures of a small group trying to end the water woes of Sand Land, you’ll play as the Fiend Prince Beezlebub. Accompanying him is Town Sheriff Rao and the demon Thief. From the looks of things, we’ll be zooming across the sand wasteland, fighting against desert creatures, and saving Sand Land from dying of thirst. You know, just basic stuff.
Highlighted in the trailer is both vehicle and on-foot combat. Featuring a wide range of vehicles to choose from, you can customize each option with different weapons and loadouts to suit the area of the desert you’re traversing. You’ll be facing off against giant scorpions, dinosaurs, sand snakes, humans, and more in the search for a new water source.
We’re still waiting for a specific launch date to be confirmed, but I know the hype for the newly announced Sand Land is real for me. Stay tuned for more. We’ll let you know when you can start dowsing for water as soon as it’s available.
