Thumper is a psychedelic rhythm game in which you guide a small chrome beetle along a track through increasingly difficult levels. The only buttons used are the left analog stick and the cross button, this makes the button inputs introduced in early levels very easy to grasp, but incredibly difficult to master. Later levels include boss fights where the difficulty ramps up and you can really test your mettle.

When asked why the team decided to release the game early, Thumper Co-Creator told IGN:

“We wanted to surprise and reward gamers who have been waiting years for [Thumper] to come out with the chance to play a bit sooner.”

Thumper is available on PlayStation VR, but Mark Flurry wanted to make sure there was no confusion about it being a PS4 console exclusive.

Thumper is $19.99 and is currently sitting at an 81 on Metacritic.
