Sony Online Entertainment Nominated for Top Community Management Team

Will SOE take the Dragon Slayer award?

GameSkinny’s sister site, Guild Launch, is hosting the Dragon Slayer Awards. The awards are fan selected and this year Sony Online Entertainment is up for top community management team. Sony Online Entertainment was created in 1995 and is best known for its MMO’s such as Everquest, PlanetSide, Free Realms, and DC Universe Online. But these games would be nothing without the community. Fans have poured thousands of hours in just Everquest alone and community management is important to maintain a thriving fan base.

Let’s take a look at what makes SOE’s community management team so successful.

Through Social Media

SOE’s Twitter provides news, updates, support, and interaction with their fans and allows for the opportunity for immediate and direct contact with players.

The account is mostly run by Ashlanne and Roshen, two community managers. They provide instant feedback and assistance to all questions and try their best to get problems solved by the rest of the SOE team.

On top of all this, SOE’s Twitter also runs a weekly giveaway of Station Cash. It gives followers a chance to get a little extra in-game currency that week for their loyalty.

SOE also manages to create a feeling of personality and life with the use of an official SOE Instagram. Instagram is a unique platform that makes anonymous posts seem more personable. It’s always nice to have a face behind a name. Their Instagram shows the team working, but while also having fun. It also covers events fan events such as SOE Live.

Through Sony Online Entertainment Live 2013

Formerly known as SOE Fan Faire, SOE Live is taking place right now (August 1-4, 2013). The event is held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada and is a celebration of fans and games. It allows the community to meet not only other players, but SOE developers and personalities. Activities at the event range from developer panels and discussions and game-themed live events, with exclusive access to betas and goodies is a treat to loyal fans. People from around the world can go to grow friendships and keep their passion for SOE games alive with news on current and future games.

This is probably the one of the best ways to express love for your players and it allows Sony Online Entertainment to reach out and connect with their players in person.

Overall

SOE has a vast network of community managers for each game. Each helps to bring the whole team together. If you want to cast your vote for SOE or any other nominee, voting runs until September 2nd.
