10 Gaming Foods You Need to Recreate in Real Life

Bring games to life with these treats!

Food is common in video games, and it often gives you benefits when consumed. From restoring health to giving you buffs, it pays to eat in games. But that deliciousness doesn’t need to be limited to the virtual world. These are 10 gaming foods you need to recreate in real life.

1. Dog Biscuit – Binding of Isaac

Although safe for human consumption, this Pixelated Provisions recipe is designed for your dog to eat! Bacon and peanut butter flavors come together to create a treat for your dog. After all, it’s not fair that our four-legged friends don’t get to participate in eating gaming food with us. You can make them soft or crunchy, and the recipe yields about 30 treats at a time.

2. Stupendous Stew – Super Mario Odyssey

From the Luncheon Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey and recreated by Level 1 Chef, this stew recipe was made with the help of ingredients spotted around the kingdom. A look at the recipe alone shows you that this is definitely a comfort food filled with familiar ingredients that are combined into a hearty soup that would pair perfectly with some crusty bread.

3. Golden Peach Dumplings – Okami

Although not directly from Okami, the Gluttonous Geek uses the mentions of golden peaches and kushi-dango from the game as inspiration to create a recipe for golden peach dumplings. These dumplings are bursting with peach flavor from three forms of flavoring used in the recipe, and they’re topped with a soy-based sweet sauce. I love that these treats are the perfect size for a sweet snack.

4. Lucky Lunch – Stardew Valley (Official Cookbook)

This recipe is a sneak peek at the official cookbook for Stardew Valley. It’s also a nice light lunch, with shrimp on a bed of greens. While the real-life version isn’t guaranteed to increase your luck, having a delicious and nutritious meal makes any day feel better.

5. Chocobo Cake – Final Fantasy XIV (Official Cookbook)

Topped with fresh strawberries, the Chocobo cake from FFXIV’s official cookbook is the perfect summertime sweet. It looks delicious in-game and tastes just as good. Additionally, it’s not too tough to make if you’ve made cakes before. Of all the recipes in the cookbook, this is definitely my favorite.

6. Chu Jelly – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

This recipe by Pixelated Provisions might be the easiest one on the list to make. That’s especially true if you’re familiar with making gelatin items. In Twilight Princess, Link can store defeated Chuchus in an empty bottle. Then, he can consume them later for benefits that change based on the Chu Jelly color. For this recipe, the red Chu Jelly is recreated. With its cherry flavor, it’s sure to be delicious… just don’t expect it to heal any ailments you have as it does to the titular hero, Link.

7. Sweet Bun – The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 is filled with food that Geralt can take, and Pixelated Provisions recreates Sweet Buns from the game. I think this recipe would be perfect for holidays, especially because it’s essentially a blend of hot cross buns and fruit cake. However, it looks like it would taste better than both, and not be quite as dense as a fruit cake.

8. Whimsy Cupcakes – Diablo 3

These sweet treats restore health when you’re in Whimsyshire, and now Pixelated Provisions brings them into reality. They’re cute and easy to make, plus the cherry on top is a classic touch. It won’t restore your health, but I believe these cupcakes at least restore some sanity.

9. The Cake – Portal

We might not ever get to try it in the game, but Portal’s cake is iconic. It’s also the origin of the popular phrase “The cake is a lie.” However, using this recipe from Pixelated Provisions makes the cake both very real and very delicious. This is great if you love chocolate, as there’s plenty of it in the recipe. But if you aren’t the biggest chocolate fan, then you might want to go for the Whimsy Cupcakes.

10. Sweetrolls – Skyrim

This time, Pixelated Provisions recreates what might be the most popular item from Skyrim: sweetrolls. Perhaps due to the game’s popularity, there are a lot of sweetroll recipes to try out. The roll itself has some warm spice to it thanks to the cinnamon and maple flavors, and the sweet frosting on top balances it out in a way that reminds me of cinnamon rolls mixed with molasses cookies. I’d love to have one with a cup of coffee on a winter evening.

And those are 10 gaming foods you need to recreate in real life. Most recipes are fairly straightforward, and Pixelated Provisions has written entire cookbooks for games, making their recipes a great place to start if you want to bring virtual treats to life.
