TERA’s New Discovery Edition: Try Before You Buy

En Masse has upgraded TERA's previous "free trial" to a more fleshed out "Discovery Edition". Is it worth a try?

TERA launched earlier this year to a surprising amount of subs for a Korean-developed P2P MMO, but it’s been suffering from subscription losses ever since. In an attempt to draw in new players, En Masse has upgraded TERA’s previous “free trial” to a more fleshed out “Discovery Edition” for newcomers to try before they buy.

Discovery Edition allows players to level up to 28 and, as with all MMORPG free trials, has a wealth of restrictions. After all, they do want you to pay to play. The restrictions don’t affect gameplay outside of social interaction and use of the brokerage, so you can find out what running dungeons and fighting BAMs is all about.

TERA’s lush visuals and action combat are the main draw to the game, but the lack of fleshed out end game content has really thinned the ranks. With new content patches on the horizon, now may be just the time to try it out.
