This past weekend I hung out at my uncle’s place to kick back by the fire and have a few drinks. Tasked with an interview this week, I decided to ask my cousin, Sean, if he could help me out. He kindly obliged.
What’s your favorite game, Sean?
Favorite game…I just don’t even know… My favorite game of my childhood, I’ll go with that one: Super Mario Sunshine
Why do you love Super Mario Sunshine so much?
Because it was just the best. It was so fun. I loved all the missions. It was very exciting for me as a young person and I’ve always played Mario so…
Okay, what was your favorite level?
When you go to the amusement park and you have to fight the uh, was it the piranha plant? When you go to the water park and you’re on the roller coaster and you have to shoot it with the hose.
Ah, Pinna Park. Turns out it was Mecha Bowser and Petey Piranha came later.
Yeah! I remember that, it was so cool! It’s such a good game, but I don’t think it got as much recognition as it deserved. Anyway, what’s your favorite video game character? Any game.
Character…I’ll probably have to go with Link.
Why do you like Link?
I don’t even know…he’s…I don’t know. Link is the man. He did everything. He was the one to just do it all. He saved everyone, he got the…I don’t even know how to explain it. I just really like him! I suck at interviewing.
Haha, it’s okay. Well if you like Link as your favorite character, what’s your favorite Zelda game?
Favorite Zelda game is probably Wind Waker.
And why do you like Wind Waker so much?
Because it was probably the most fun of the ones I’ve played. I love that and Ocarina of Time. Those are both fun and adventureful.
Adventureful, nice! I like that word. Alright, what have you been playing the most recently?
Recently I’ve been playing a lot of sports games. I’ve been playing NCAA Football 14.
Getting ready for the football season?
Yes, I’ve been playing that a lot and uh…Call of Duty.
I see you have your N64 out.
Yeah, I was playing for a bit. I was playing Mario Kart and All Star Baseball 99.
Okay one more question. Do you remember the first game you played?
I would say probably Madden on the PS1. I played that with my dad because he used to play that all the time. I was just learning and I sucked so bad.
Well, I guess you have to start somewhere!
As for me, I think my favorite game of all time would have to be The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Either that, or Final Fantasy VII.
