Street Fighter V gets a new brand as a PS4 Exclusive and DLC details revealed

Street Fighter V is Capcom's first game to get the new brand by Sony.

The latest entry in the Street Fighter series developed by Capcom, Street Fighter V, will be one of the first games to have PlayStation’s new type of branding. On the Best Buy website you can see the latest cover of Street Fighter V for PS4 that shows this new brand. Nothing we have not seen before but it shows how much Sony is pushing that fact that it is a console exclusive.

After its initial release, six DLC characters will be released throughout this year. The six characters have been revealed to be Alex, Balrog, Guile, Ibuki, Juri, and Urien. Like other characters of the series these characters will not play the same like previous games.

Sagat, a classic street fighter character appearing as the final boss of the original Street Fighter, will not be appearing at launch or as a DLC this year for that matter. In an interview with Famitsu, Yoshinori Ono revealed why:

“It’s because there are many characters that perform similarly. For this launch and its next update, we wanted to have a good balance of characters. Since we didn’t want to just blindly increase the number of characters, it was a bitter decision that had to be made.”

Hachima and Siliconera were kind enough to translate it for us.

However, that does not mean that Sagat or Blanka will never appear in the title since Ono ensures that there is a possibility for more characters later on.

Street Fighter V will be available on February 16th of this year on PC and PS4 for $59.99.

The Season Pass is also available for purchase for $29.99 and will include all six additional characters, each with a premium costume and an exclusive PS4 Theme. Purchase the Season Pass before the release of Street Fighter V and you will receive three PS4 avatars (Ryu, Chun-Li, and M. Bison) for free!
