Miyamoto Ends Year of Luigi

Miyamoto ends the Year of Luigi after a wonderful year filled with numerous Luigi-themed games.

As with all good things, they must come to an end. Miyamoto has decided to end the Year of Luigi officially on March 19th, 2014.

What was this “Year of Luigi”?

Basically, the whole point of the Year of Luigi was to celebrate the green brother who was mostly overlooked in every Mario game. With this celebration, Nintendo did not only bring some well deserved attention to Luigi, but made numerous games in the past year to celebrate his contribution to the famous Mario games, and their fortune.

Among the games created during this celebration are New Super Luigi U DLC, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and Dr. Luigi.

What will happen now?

Knowing Nintendo’s reputation, we’ll be able to expect some more celebrations in store for characters that have been stuck in the shadows. I for sure can’t wait to see Year of the Kirby.

Are you happy or sad that the Year of Luigi is ending? What would you like to see next year?
