The Kanto Legendary Trio are coming to the 3DS in May

Kanto's original Legendary Trio are making their way to the 3DS titles in May via Mystery Gift

2016 is Pokémon‘s 20th Anniversary, and the celebrations are far from over! Since February, The Pokémon Company has been releasing mythical Pokémon every month (you can find out how to claim each one here). However, the company has now revealed that three more Legendary Pokémon will be available for members of the official Pokémon website’s Trainers’ Club: Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos.

While this might not sound all too special with the recent release of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow on the Virtual Console, these three Legendary Birds have special abilities that you can’t find anywhere else. Articuno will sport Snow Cloak, an ability that increases its evasion by 25% during hail. Moltres gets Flame Body which gives it a 35% chance to inflict a burn when attacked with a physical contact attack. Lastly, Zapdos has the ability Static, which works similarly to Flame Body, except it inflicts paralysis instead of a burn.

If you want to add these special Legendary Birds to your Pokémon team, all you need to do is follow the instructions on the official Pokémon website to sign up for the Trainers’ Club Newsletter. In May you will receive a special code to unlock the trio in your copy of Pokémon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X, or Y version. Simply take this code, input it to Mystery Gift’s “Receive via Code” option, and voila! The Kanto Legendary Trio has been caught!
