In a recent interview with the game’s director, Tetsuya Nomura, Final Fantasy XV is expected to have multiple direct sequels.

Following the setup of the previous Final Fantasy installments, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XIII, Nomura explains that Final Fantasy XV’s direct sequels will have the game take place in the same world.  Nomura stated,

“In the trailer, there was a line that read ‘A World of the Versus Epic,’ which suggests that it will be part of an epic.”

How many direct sequels this entails is not stated. Nomura assures fans that they will not be expected to wait an additional eight years to see the release of the sequels. He suggested that the future games may be released episodically.  If so, players will be able to play the newest installments even faster with quicker release dates.

“As for as how it will be released, we’ll announce that later on; however, having you wait a long while for a next title isn’t something we would desire…”

Final Fantasy XV will be released for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

What are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to the sequels?
