Call Of Duty: Warzone Adds 2FA for PC Players

Infinity Ward has added a new safeguard against cheaters in Call of Duty Warzone on PC.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is now live in the PC version of Call of Duty: Warzone. The update was announced on Twitter by the game’s developers, Infinity Ward.

For those that don’t know, 2FA (two-factor authentication) is an extra level of security used to protect consumers’ accounts. In the case of Call of Duty: Warzone, this is represented as an SMS text message with a code that then enables access to your account.

The game has been plagued with cheaters and hackers since its release back in March. Cheating has been most noticeable in lobbies consisting of mainly PC players, with many reports regarding players glitching helicopters under the map, resulting in Infinity Ward removing them entirely until the issue was rectified.

The 2FA aims to prevent the number of bots and hackers that have managed to get into game lobbies and wreak havoc for everyone else. Not only that, but the functionality adds an extra level of security to players’ accounts.

Infinity Ward is working tirelessly to ensure the game is free of hackers and even released a blog post last month, highlighting some of the steps they’re taking. One such action is placing any recognized cheater in a lobby with people who have also been identified as cheaters.

Currently, there’s no mention of 2FA coming to consoles, but it is enabled for all PC players from today. For all things Call of Duty: Warzone check here, and keep an eye on GameSkinny for news as it comes through!
