The Witcher 2 is Free on Xbox Live

Microsoft has released The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for free on the Xbox Live Marketplace in preparation for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

In preparation for the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,  anyone with a Gold membership for Xbox Live will be able to download The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for free. Microsoft has been offering free monthly games to Gold members since June of 2013, and The Witcher 2 will be available until the end of the month. (MX vs. ATV Alive was available at the beginning of the month, but unfortunately, Microsoft took the free download off of the Marketplace yesterday. )

The Witcher 2 is a single-player, fantasy role-playing game by CD Projekt RED, starring the original hero from the first game, Geralt of Rivia. Geralt is one of the last few remaining witchers, which are humans that have been genetically enhanced and trained to fight monsters from a very young age. The story is set immediately after the first game, picking up right after the attempt on King Foltest's life that occurred in the final scene of the first game.

With a reworked combat system, a unique storyline, and outstanding graphics, The Witcher 2 is a game that Gold members don't want to miss out on, especially since it's free!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will launch on May 19th, so don't miss the opportunity to catch up on the story.

My name is Ciara Guibault, and I am a gamer, a guitarist, and a church-going fool. I stay busy with two jobs, full-time college classes, an internship, and playing for my church band. i enjoy nearly every type of game (with the exception of sports games), but my two favorite genres are action/adventure games and first-person shooters.

I would appreciate a PS3 or PS4 version of Witcher 2! It breaks my heart to think of playstation 4 people who didn't have a PC or Xbox 360, and have to watch hours of YouTube lore videos online.

Weird... the UK doesn't actually have Witcher 2 on the Xbox Store...well lucky I already have the game on PC... because otherwise I would be really annoyed I couldn't get it for free to experience Witcher for the first time.
I would later find out that paying for it wouldn't matter, it would be worth it.
