Steam Offers Refunds for Pre-Purchases

Valve is listening to user feedback!

Good news! As of last night, Steam users now have the option to refund their pre-orders.

According to a Steam Users’ Forum,

In what seems like another step in the right direction by Valve, it seems they have very recently implemented what seems to be a user controlled refund mechanism. It seems that any pre-order item a user has in their STORE TRANSACTIONS page, now has a link called Refund an item.

Below is a picture to illustrate the new refund link.

Before this, Steam users would have to open a support ticket with Valve if they wanted to cancel a pre-order.

It is still unclear whether Steam will refund the money to the original method of payment or to your SteamWallet. If you ask me, this is the first step in the right direction by Valve. If Valve could refund the money directly to a bank account it would be ideal, especially for regular games as well as pre-orders.

No confirmations have been made about how Steam will be refunding the money.
