Far Cry 4’s Map Editor Will Lack Support for Competitive Multiplayer Levels Upon Launch

The week before its launch, it's revealed that Far Cry 4 won't support competitive multiplayer levels as an option.

Ubisoft and its creative director Alex Hutchinson have both confirmed that the map editor for upcoming Far Cry 4 title won’t be supporting competitive multiplayer levels upon launch next week.

Hutchinson explained that due to the game’s budget and concerns with the timing so soon before release, some features ended up not making the cut, and the competitive play is one of them.

Hutchinson commented about the missing feature:

“We try very hard to support the map making community, trust me. But there are milions of players who play the campaign only.”

In response to the Far Cry 4 news, a forum thread has accumulated 131 pages of voiced disappointments among the series’ fans. A number of commenters in the thread took particular issue with the fact that previous Far Cry games included the levels from the get-go, yet this new installment will be going without.

However, despite the lack of competitive multiplayer levels for the initial launch, Hutchinson reassured fans of the possibility that it may be added in the future through a post-release update of the game.

“We’re going to keep supporting the game so hopefully we can get it done post release. No promises but we will try.”

With or without competitive play, Far Cry 4 launches on November 18, and it will be available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Hopefully, Ubisoft will be able to supply the demand in the future.
