Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games

Mario and Sonic return for the 2014 Olympic Winter games. What events can we expect, and how will the teams go against one another?

If you thought Mario and Sonic were done participating in their own Olympics, you were wrong. Nintendo welcomes back Mario and Sonic at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games, available on November 15th for the Wii U. This will be the 4th game in the series of Sonic and Mario, and you can expect some thrilling events to occur.

Olympic Events

Within Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, there will be many familiar events that will bring back some fond memories of watching the real Winter Olympics. The normal Events include Skiing, Skating, Curling, Snowboarding, and Figure Skating. Some other events, called Dream Events, include Hockey, Bobsled Racing, and Snowboard Racing. You'll get to play as your favorite Nintendo and Sonic characters and try your best at sports.

The characters from Nintendo include: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Bowser, Bowser Jr, Donkey Kong, Wario, and Waluigi.

The characters from Sonic include: Sonic, Tails, Amy, Shadow, Dr. Eggman, Knuckles, Blaze, Vector, Silver, and Metal Sonic.

The one character that's expected with the Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is your Mii character. As the game is on the Wii U, the Mii characters will also be playable, and bring the game to a more personal level.

The game is the first in its series to only be Wii U exclusive. You won't be able to get your hands on a hand-held version, so be ready to use your Wii U controllers. Those will include the traditional Wii-mote, but also the Gamepad. They will become interchangeable depending on what event you're taking part in.

What team will you play on? Traditional Nintendo or taking a trip down Sega lane? Share with a comment below if you've had previous Olympic games, or just can't wait for this one!
