Don’t Starve Together is such an impressive game, albeit a very hard one for those who don’t know what they are doing. That is why we setup a Beginner’s Guide to help out the new players. Once you know what you are doing, though, you can begin downloading mods and experiencing the game in a new light.

Minimap HUD

Basically, this game modification adds in a fully functional minimap to the game’s HUD; it is capable of being zoomed in, and will update in real-time as you discover new areas and zones. If you prefer not to have it take up so much room, the minimap can be collapsed.

For those who want to know where they are, this is the perfect little mod.

Craftable Gears

Gears are one of the hardest objects to find in the game; mostly because it requires the player killing the more difficult creatures found in the land. For less experienced players, however, this mod ensures you can craft gears with simple-to-find objects in the game like Rocks, Gold Nuggets, and Flint.

Gears are a necessity for further developments and technologies, such as the refrigerator, which is required to keep food fresh for longer periods of time.

Survival Gear

This particular mod has three craftable items: including a Beefalo Coat, which will keep you warm for long periods of time in-game; the Punisher, which is a nice little starting weapon; and the Punisher With Teeth, which upgrades the previously mentioned weapon with hound teeth.

The Beefalo Coat is especially nice, as it calms angered Beefalo to allow easier manure collection for farms. The warmth is definitely a plus, too.

Architectural Geometry

For those players who love the base-building aspect of Don’t Starve, this mod allows you to create a far better-looking base than before. You can use an invisible grid to attach each piece, allowing the walls to snap together perfectly.

The best thing about this mod is that it is completely passive, meaning you do not have to do anything to setup it up or use any special commands in-game to make it work.

Deep Freezer

The refrigerator is one of the greatest tools in the game, but you cannot keep food for long-term usage, though it does extend their use. The Deep Freezer allows the player to freeze their food, though it does take up to two days in order to thaw out. If you have more food than you need at the moment, freezing some can be useful for tough times.

Sadly, not everything can be frozen, including cooked food and dried foods.

These are only a select handful of Don’t Starve Together mods, but they are almost vital to ensuring your game is far better. The experience you can have surviving in a barren wasteland can be doubled.
