Summon Night 6 being summoned to North America in early 2017

Characters from the past unite in this new battle.

Summon Night 6: Lost Borders has been announced by Gaijinworks to be released in North America in early 2017 on the PS4 and Vita. It will be released both physically and digitally for both systems. Gaijinworks also plans to include a special edition for the game, similar to their release of Summon Night 5, though it is not up yet.

The story starts up with three main characters (Raj, Amu, and Ist) in isolation, living only with their partners: summon creatures, similar to the picture below:

Gameplay revolves around a 3D-battle system on a tactical board, moving characters across panels and using attacks and spells to defeat enemies strategically. Team attacks are also available, referred to as a “Summon Burst.” Surrounding enemies also has more of an advantage, as allies can join in on a “Chain Hit” assault. There are also mini-games such as cooking and fishing too.

Much like the previous game, you can choose your character’s gender. But unlike Summon Night 5, the character not chosen will still be a part of the story. Other features remain the same, such as having nightly conversations with party members to build up relationships, and many different endings depending on character friendships and the branching paths. There will also be returning characters from previous Summon Night games. Despite the amount of past cast members of other Summon Night games, Gaijinworks claimed that even if you have not played any of the other games, you can still enjoy Summon Night 6 on its own. There will even be English voice-acting this time as opposed to just Japanese.

The previous entry, originally released in 2013 in Japan, was published by Gaijinworks for the PSP and Vita in 2015. It eventually released onto the PlayStation Network and a limited special physical release.
