Winner of multiple “Best Game No One Played” and “Most Obnoxiously Long Name” awards, Zero Escape: 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors may be coming to Steam. This visual novel/escape the room hybrid came out seven years ago — and despite a small cult following, it has never hit mainstream popularity due to an incredibly limited release.

A tweet made by publisher Spike Chunsoft hinted at the game’s port this morning, showing a video of the ship that the first game takes place on.

While that’s a bit too vague to base anything on, series scenario writer Kotaro Uchikoshi’s response should clear up any doubts.

Steam is making lots of older games more accessible, especially ones that would get overlooked otherwise.  The Danganronpa series received similar treatment when it was ported to PC, as its audience on the Vita was sadly limited.  It remains to be seen if 999 will be available before the final game in the trilogy, Zero Time Dilemma, is released on Steam at the end of the month.
